There’s really no time when a plumbing problem is convenient – to you or to a plumber! When emergency plumbing situations occur, you need an express plumber.
When You Need an Express Plumber
The types of issues that require the services of an express plumber can be:
-Blocked sinks and drains, or overflowing drains in your home
-Burst or broken pipes or taps
-Overflowing and blocked toilets
-Hot water system repairs
-Gas leaks and gas safety concerns
These are all critical issues that can’t ‘wait until morning’ or until the next jobs are completed. They also don’t usually happen in standard working hours, especially hot water service break down. For some reason hot water systems always seem to break down at times of late night showers, or in the morning as you prepare for busy days ahead.
In some of these cases you may not need an express plumber to actually visit, they may be able to ask some questions and offer you a short term solution to survive the night, and avoid an emergency call-out fee. In other cases they may be able to come and perform an emergency repair to get you through until the bigger problem can be easily fixed.
No Time To Quote
In an emergency the cost can become secondary to the solution, especially if a toilet is overflowing or a pipe has burst and is flooding your home.
When there is not time to shop around you need the services of an emergency or express plumber, like our JEDI Plumbing team on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
While a quote may not be possible in such situations, there are still some important questions to ask your express plumber:
-Is there an added call-out fee, on top of the charge for the actual job?
-Will the call incur a set fee or a ‘by the hour’ charge for any work done?
-Are they certified or licensed to undertake the work?
Also, if you happen to be unlucky enough to be having an emergency on a public holiday, you will need to check for any additional holiday surcharges applied to the call-out.
These fees, levied for holidays and emergency call-outs, can vary dramatically between plumbers so it is worth checking before getting your express plumber on the job. While everyone expects to pay more than usual for an emergency you don’t want to pay more than you have to.
A Quick Fix
It is common to implement a quick fix in an emergency, especially an emergency out of hours. This is not just for the plumber’s benefit but often also the householders particularly if it is a long, complex job late at night.
Express plumbers like JEDI Plumbing will try to establish on the phone whether a quick-fix is possible, or whether there is something you can do under their instruction to hold things together until morning. This may be as simple as shutting off the hot water supply. If we need to come out to assess the damage, we will advise what the fee will be to come out and then offer a quote when we’ve seen the extent of the damage.
Often a quick fix is to stem the damage being caused and/or to make the situation safe until a full repair can be undertaken.
Express Minus Expense
Most householders don’t worry about an emergency until one happens, and as we’ve shown, emergencies can be expensive.
Some express or emergency plumbing services may charge as if they are happy never to have your business again. Others are plumbers who value their relationship with you.
To avoid the expense of an express plumbing job, it is good to have a working relationship with a plumber who you know delivers express and emergency services.
-A plumber you know.
-A plumber you can trust.
-A plumber you can rely on.
-A plumber who has fees and charges you already understand and accept.
-A plumber who values your long term business.
Express Plumbers
While an emergency plumbing situation can sometimes be a distressing and expensive experience, there are things you can do to minimise your panic. Most of these centre on having an established relationship with a plumber you trust who offers an emergency of 24/7 service.
